Anxiety
Anxiety can be deliberating and can affect all areas of your life and can stop you doing things you want to do.
Anxiety is caused by a prolonged period of stress where you brain is in a state of the fight/flight stress reaction for a long period of time. This results in the production of the stress hormone cortisol which increases the production of adrenaline in the body which can cause unpleasant physical symptoms such as rapid breathing, light headedness, nausea, upset stomach and sweaty palms. It can feel like you have no control over this, but you have.
I can help you gain back control, by helping you understand what is causing the anxiety and recognise your triggers and give you tools and techniques to help you move forward.

Stress
Stress can have a significant effect on our physical and mental health.
A little bit of stress is natural and can in fact be beneficial to us. For example; getting you geared up to deliver a speech or perform in a sporting event. But too much stress can cause havoc on our physical and mental health and can trigger other conditions such as sleep disorders, IBS and chronic fatigue.
Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy can help you address the underlying cause of stress and help you to manage it by replacing negative reactions with healthier responses improving your quality of life.

Fears & Phobias
It is normal to be afraid or cautious of some things. We have these reactions to keep us safe from potential dangers. However sometimes fears can get out of hand and when they start affecting our everyday life it is good to get them sorted out.
The good news is hypnotherapy can be a very effective way to get over fears and phobias by helping you to reframe your thoughts and reactions to them, and reduce the fear response altogether.

Breaking Habits
We all pick up habits along our journey through life. We are not born with them, they are something we learn to do, often formed as a coping mechanism to an unpleasant feeling or situation.
The habit is then reinforced during similar situations and becomes firmly rooted into our subconscious as a means of protection.
This is why habits are so hard to break, even if you really want to and are desperate to stop.
But luckily, hypnotherapy is one of the most effective ways to break unwanted habits because it can communicate directly with the subconscious.
So whether it’s nail biting, hair pulling, blinking, teeth grinding, drinking alcohol or procrastinating, I can help you eliminate that unwanted habit and help you form new beneficial ones that align with your values and goals.

Quit Smoking
Smoking is an unhealthy, life-threatening and very expensive habit which can be very difficult to kick.
However, when in the relaxed state of hypnosis your brain has a significantly higher ability to take on new ideas and break bad habits.
During the session, your subconscious mind will be rewired to produce the same positive feelings that you used to experience from smoking, but without the adverse health effects.
Hypnotherapy has a very high success rate with helping people give up smoking and has been quoted as; 'The most effective way to give up smoking' by New Scientist magazine (vol 136).
In just one 90-120 minutes session you could be a non-smoker. It worked for me!

Weight management
Because our habits are deeply rooted in our subconscious it can be very difficult to change them. That’s why hypnotherapy is so effective at helping people make effective and lasting change because it communicates directly with the subconscious mind.
I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy and Hypnotic Gastric Band technique to help clients achieve their weight loss goals and maintain a healthy weight in the long term.
My approach is tailored to individual situations and needs and preferences. I use motivational strategies to help you stay focused on your goals as well as techniques to help you overcome cravings and emotional eating.
I will help you identify and transform any limiting beliefs you may have about food and weight loss and help you maintain a positive relationship with food and your body.

Self Esteem
Self esteem refers to the way we feel about ourselves, the way we look, behave and think.
Our self-esteem can be influenced by the people around us such as our friends, family, peers and colleagues and by the media.
Low self-esteem is a learnt behaviour that can impact our wellbeing, and potential in life.
Hypnotherapy can be very effective for improving self esteem as it can help you unlearn those negative thoughts and behaviours and create new more supportive positive ones.

Confidence
Confidence refers to the way we feel about ourselves and our ability to carry out tasks and roles and how we deal with mistakes when they happen.
Having low confidence can hold us back both personally and professionally.
Confidence is affected by our belief system which is influenced by our past experiences, other people, other people’s judgments and opinions of us, how other people act towards us, the media and much more.
These beliefs dwell in our subconscious, so by accessing your subconscious mind through hypnosis I can help you address and let go of any limiting and negative beliefs you may have and help you replace them with more beneficial ones that will help you feel more confident within yourself.
As well as helping you to improve your overall confidence, hypnotherapy can also help you with more specific areas such as work or relationships, or help you with a specific goal such as a job interview or driving test or public speaking.

Children's Therapy
As a qualified teacher with over 10 years experience teaching in schools, I have gained a wealth of experience working with children and I have witnessed first hand some of the issues that many children face.
Children are usually very open to hypnotherapy and respond very well to the sessions. Children are accustomed to using their imaginations and this is very beneficial when finding solutions to problems.
I use a solution focused approach with children by encouraging the child to focus on how they would prefer things to be and the sessions are tailored with this outcome in mind.
The sessions are very relaxed and informal. Parents are invited to stay during the session if they would like to.
